The Minister of Agriculture Florin Brabu recommended small producers to be taxed in order to have access to all state aid, but also to European funds. The head of Agriculture told the vegetable growers in Arad county that if they become II – individual enterprise or PFA, they will have less taxes to pay than the income norm and will be able to access more subsidies and European funding.

During the visit that Florin Barbu made to Arad today, Thursday – March 28, he was also in the middle of a group of producers. One of them asked Barbu how he can access the diesel excise subsidy, but also how small farmers can enter into a relationship with large retailers.

“Are you a PFA, II or a natural person?”, the minister asked the farmer, who replied that he works as a natural person.

Florin Barbu advised this agricultural producer, as well as the others present, to be taxed as II or PFA. “You pay more per income norm per individual than if you paid II, PFA as a micro-enterprise, by 3%. When capitalizing, you as a norm of income per individual pay more because then you also pay CAS, and that’s it. If you are II or PFA, you only pay 3% on the turnover you have. The payment to the state budget is much lower,” said the minister.

European funds, accessible only to legal entities

Barbu highlighted other advantages for farmers as a taxed person: access to all subsidies and European funds.

“I encourage you to do II and PFA because you benefit from the 25% excise tax on diesel, you benefit from projects with European funds where you can access 50,000 euros, 200,000 euros, with 80%-20% support. The development part – and I don’t think you don’t want to develop from 1,000 square meters to 3,000 square meters with European funding. If you want to go in person, you can’t. You’ll prove me right that based on your income you pay more to the Tax Office than if you were II or PFA”, said Minister Florin Barbu.

The head of Agriculture assured them that even if they become II or PFA, they will still be able to sell in the markets and to wholesalers, based on the producer card.
