He told investigators he stabbed her after he caught her texting on her phone and the girl refused to tell him who she was talking to.

“I took two knives and went back to the bedroom with them! I hit her! I got very angry!”, according to the prosecutor’s report. These are the statements of Mirel Dragomir, a medicine and theology student, who described to the investigators step by step the film of the crime.

“I noticed that Andreea was typing on the phone and I thought she was talking to someone. I asked her who she was talking to, and she refused to tell me who she was talking to,” says the prosecutors’ report. It was the moment when the individual went out of his mind, blinded by jealousy.

I tried to take the phone from her hand and she held it tightly. I still managed to get it and told Andrea to tell me the PIN code. She wanted to leave the apartment and I tried to stop her, the report also states.

What followed in the apartment in Timişoara shows a cruelty that is hard to imagine. The coroners counted 60 stab wounds on Andrea’s body. The young medical student allegedly tried to defend herself.

He told me he wanted to break up with me. When I heard this, I got very angry and went to the kitchen, where I got two knives and went back to the bedroom with them. Andreea hit me on the hand, and at that moment I cut myself in the face with the knife. I remember hitting her 5-6 times, says the prosecutors report.

He placed Andreea on the bed, covered her neck wounds with hair, cleaned the scene of the crime, washed up and then went to his parents’ house in Caraş Severin, where he acted as if nothing had happened . In front of the prosecutors, he maintained all the time that he had a relationship with Andreea since last October.

Andrea’s father: He now says what suits him. They were not lovers as it was reported, they were friends, college colleagues. When he was available, he took her by car and took her to the minibus with the luggage, he helped her.

Dan Antinescu, forensic expert: It is possible that the relationship between the two was only in the boy’s mind and he made many plans, and at the moment the girl refused to have a relationship with him or to continue it if she had somehow a beginning, all his plans fell apart and then he could no longer control his nerves. If he claimed to be in love with this girl, there was no way he would hit her with such hatred.

At the Faculty of Medicine in Timisoara, where the two were students, neither the professors nor their colleagues have recovered from the shock.

Andrei Motoc, vice-rector of UMF Timisoara: Mirel is a good student based on his exams and professional achievements. He was a budget student, with an average of over 9, he really had concerns in this regard. It is a tragedy what happened.

Andrea’s father: She was my goal in life. I don’t have any goals now, I don’t have anything to live for. There is no more life for me. What I couldn’t do, I hoped she would.

Andreea was 21 years old. On Thursday, she will be buried at home, in the Padeş commune of Gorj.
