Sony is preparing to launch the newest flagship terminal in its Xperia range, the 1 VI model, on May 17. As we get closer to that date, more and more details about the device are being made public through leaks.
Less than a day ago, an image appeared revealing the camera island on the new Xperia 1 iteration. This suggests that the photo modules could be larger compared to the previous version, the 1 V, thus contradicting an earlier rumor.
The specifics of the screen, a controversial topic
As for the displays, most sources of unofficial information have confirmed that Sony may forgo 4K resolution on the new flagship, opting for a more conventional aspect ratio. However, concrete details about these aspects have not yet been provided.
Xperia 1 VI price, an important indication for the global market
One key aspect that has been left out of discussions about the new Xperia 1 VI so far is the selling price. Today, however, we have a clue about this. According to some rumors, in Taiwan, the terminal would cost a little less than its predecessor, reaching 39,900 TWD (about 1,224 USD or 1,143 EUR), compared to 41,990 TWD (about 1,288 USD or 1,204 EUR) for the Xperia 1 V.
While the price cut isn’t significant, it’s encouraging that Sony doesn’t seem to have increased the value of the new flagship compared to the previous generation. However, it remains to be seen whether this pricing strategy will be applied to other major markets or will be specific only to Taiwan.
In any case, the official launch on May 17 will provide definitive clarification on all the technical and price details of the new Xperia 1 VI.
