The Pantsir anti-aircraft system is one of the most modern types of weaponry in the equipment of the Russian forces, a mobile, wheeled, autonomous system with its own radar and which relies on both high-rate guns and missiles to intercept aerial targets.

The main surface-to-air missiles of the Pantsir system have an average range of 20-40 kilometers, but there are also more advanced systems such as the Pantir SM that can hit targets at a distance of up to 75 kilometers.

The Pantir system was designed for the defense of military, industrial or administrative installations against air attacks using precision munitions.

Most Pantir systems entered the Russian military between 2008 and 2013, with newer models being designed starting in 2019. They are among the most modern weapons in the Russian military arsenal.
