Yellow code of atmospheric instability and extreme phenomena

--

Meteorologists are on the alert and on Wednesday issued a yellow code warning for 18 counties in the country, including Cluj. This warning comes in the context of heightened atmospheric instability, which promises to bring with it extreme and dangerous phenomena.

The targeted counties are Cluj, Sălaj, Bihor, Alba, Sibiu, Hunedoara, Arad, Timiș, Caraș-Severin, Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt, Gorj, Vâlcea, Argeș, Dâmbovița, Prahova and Brașov. Thus, it is important that residents of these areas be prepared and take precautions.

According to the National Weather Service, expected phenomena include torrential downpours, frequent electrical discharges, hail, wind gusts and even tornadoes. These weather conditions can create serious problems in their path, such as local flooding, damage to infrastructure and even danger to people’s lives and safety.

ANM warns that in short periods of time or through accumulation, water quantities can reach 20…25 l/m2 and, isolated, even over 40 l/m2. Such phenomena should not be taken lightly and it is vital to pay attention to the warnings and recommendations of the authorities.

It is important to note that such severe weather conditions are not limited to the mentioned counties, but can also affect other parts of the country. All citizens are therefore urged to be vigilant and stay updated with the latest weather updates.

The yellow warning is in effect until Wednesday evening at 11:00 p.m., but it is possible that it will be extended depending on the evolution of the weather situation. It is essential that all residents of affected areas stay safe, avoid non-essential travel and follow the advice of local and national authorities.
