The doctor from Cluj-Napoca who operated on Florin Piersic, about the state of health of the great actor: “We kind of did our job”

Last evening, Florin Piersic was transferred from the Heart Institute, in Cluj Napoca, to the Matei Balș Institute in the capital, on a SMURD plane. The decision for Florin Piersic to be moved from Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest was taken by the actor, together with his family, to continue the antibiotic treatment, and for the knee infection to be treated by the same doctor who took care of it in the past of this problem.

Doctor Horia Roșianu, the specialist from the Heart Institute in Cluj-Napoca who operated on Florin Piersic, spoke on Romania TV about the state of health of the great actor.

According to doctors, the great actor’s condition is stable at the moment.

“It’s a double infection: infection of the prosthesis and infection of the heart probes. It’s good. I happened to be on vacation, but the antibiotic treatment had to be done anyway. Anyway, it was a very big misfortune. When you see a growth on a heart probe, don’t jump on it right away, proper treatment should be given. Together with a committee, with anesthesiologists, with colleagues of the highest class, we detected that there are vegetations on the probes, but the problem was raised, which should be solved first, the infection of the knee prosthesis, or the unclogging of the probes. From a cardiac point of view, I quickly gathered a team of 11 colleagues and together, on an Easter Sunday morning, calm and quiet, in 45 minutes we operated on the great actor, extracted the pacemaker and the probes without any problem.

Then we resolved this secondary outbreak of infection. We are a heart institute, not orthopedics or infectious diseases. The clinical condition improved, I followed him until today. He is no longer very well in the heart institute, even though we are an elite unit, but we are not infectious diseases or orthopedics. We did our job. Thus, discussing with the family, I put the alternative. I suggested that the second outbreak of infection in the knee be dealt with by the same doctor who dealt with the knee prosthesis, as I dealt with the probes that I applied 15 years ago. He had to go to a facility where he could continue his infectious treatment,” said, on Romania TV, Horia Roșianu.
