The second edition of the urban art festival, Htag Street Art Festival, will take place in Galati, between 13-19 May 2024, and aims to promote street art and its dialogue with the local community, as well as the regeneration of the urban space in the city of Galati .
During this period, at the Adventure Park near the Danube Beach, 10 murals will be created in the form of the first outdoor Urban Art Gallery in Romania with the help of international artists, as well as Romanian participants and 1,000 square meters of graffiti/street art with a selection of the most talented and active Romanian and international street artists.
During the festival, a workshop on comics and illustration will be organized as well as the screening of the first documentary about graffiti and Street Art in Romania: “Why do these people write on the walls”, in the presence of the team, at which there will also be a question and answer session discussions with the street artists present in the film.
At the same time, an urban art exhibition will be organized by Pisica Pătrată, Ionuţ Popescu and Roper.
There will also be a stand of art objects, but street art workshops will also be organized with the following themes: Comics, Illustration – Primer (Ro), Sticker workshop – Popescu Ionuţ (Ro).
Throughout the event, the park remains open to the general public who will be able to admire and watch the artists’ actions.
The event is carried out with the support of the Galati City Hall, Valea Jiului Society and the Intelligent Street Art Association.
According to the organizer of the event, Cristian Scutaru, high-profile artists will be present at the festival, out of the more than 15 participating artists, 10 being foreigners.
The artist Kogaone – painter and muralist from France, Shekra Online – independent graphic artist from France, who redefines the boundaries between digital and traditional art mediums, Alex Senna – Brazilian urban artist, Farid Rueda – from Mexico have already confirmed their presence. The Brazilian designer André Farkas, aka Treco, is coming to Romania for the first time, at the Galaţi festival, as well as the artist ILL.DES, who is a Romanian-American abstract artist from Denver, with experience in computer engineering, and maybe that’s why he brings elements of technology in his art. El Rughis from Italy and Denis Dendy born in Kamchatka will also participate.
Among the Romanian artists who will participate in the Htag Festival are: ATOMA (photo, work from Galați – edition 1), Pisica Pătrată, who returns to the second edition for an urban installation, Ionuţ Popescu, mimifier, Roper and, not in the last row, PRIMER and George Daniel Pleșcan from Galați, known under the pseudonym Gorgika85.
