Between 01-05 May, more than 100 firefighters from Olten checked the places of worship regarding fire safety and ensured public protection missions every day.
During the mini-holiday on Labor Day and the Easter holidays, the military firefighters from the “Matei Basarab” Emergency Situations Inspectorate of Olt county took 532 calls, through the unique number 112. Of the total, 89 were from SMURD paramedics .
“Of the total number of interventions, 89 were by SMURD paramedics, for providing first aid and transporting injured people or people with serious medical problems to the hospital, but there were also five fires, without any particular problems, most of them having the probable cause of the installations electrical faults or with improvisations”, shows IPJ Olt.
At the same time, the prevention inspectors from ISU Olt carried out during this period control actions and dissemination of preventive information, at the main places of worship in the county.
During the controls, the firemen checked whether the following measures are ensured: the establishment of fire protection rules and measures, with an emphasis on the use of open fire, the evacuation of people participating in religious services and the maintenance of free access to the intervention routes; limiting the access of believers to places of worship, up to the standard capacity and keeping the doors on the access and evacuation routes open; verifying the existence of the initial means of extinguishing and training the staff to know how fire extinguishers work, the technical means of PSI and the possibilities of water supply in case of fire; establishing the methods of operative alerting of the intervention forces.
“Nine checks were carried out at places of worship in the county and 16 contraventional sanctions (warnings) were applied. The main irregularities found were: the exploitation of electrical installations with improvisations, the fire protection measures were not established, during the periods when normal activity is interrupted, the fire extinguishers were not checked, according to the rules in force”, also shows IPJ Olt.
