Extensive investment to modernize the road infrastructure in Galati county, announces the Galati County Council (CJ)!
Thus, DN25, the busiest road in the county, will be expanded to four lanes and modernized on the route: exit from the municipality of Galati – Movileni – Şendreni – Şerbeștii Vechi – Braniştea – Traian – Independenta – Piscu – Tudor Vladimirescu – Hanu Conachi (the intersection with DN25A), over a distance of over 40 kilometers. The total value of this investment is 1,522,200,000 lei (VAT included), an amount that includes the works and the part of expropriations.
“We will invest over 300 million euros so that DN25, known as the “road of death” due to the high number of accidents, becomes a safe and modern road. That is why we are making this large investment, so that the number of accidents decreases drastically, there are no more deaths from accidents, and the time spent in traffic is reduced. In 2023, the number of serious accidents was 25% higher than in 2022. We will completely transform this road, the busiest in our county, with the help of European funds. Statistics show that there are more than 6,000 cars that transit this road in 24 hours, of which almost 20% are trucks“, declared Costel Fotea, president of the Galaţi CJ, in a press conference held today in front of the Şendreni City Hall.
The road will be expanded to four lanes and will be completely modernized. The 12 bridges and railway crossings will also be expanded with new bridges and crossings, all footbridges on the route will be completely modernized and parapets will be installed to delimit the two directions of traffic. Moreover, to facilitate access from the side roads, 28 roundabouts will be set up, and pedestrian crossings will be drawn near them. In addition, where necessary, pedestrian walkways will be built.
“We already have bids submitted to the auction, as it is an association of companies from Galati, including those with experience in the construction of bridges and passages. We are in full technical evaluation, so that at the beginning of this summer we can finalize the tender and issue the order to start the works. Moreover, this investment will also create new jobs. The road will be completely modernized from the exit from Galati municipality, from somewhere in the Tirighina (Borcan) area to Hanu Conachi, at the intersection with DN25A, the road leading to Năneşti, which we will also expand to four lanes, up to at the intersection with the future Brăila – Focşani Expressway“, also specified Costel Fotea.
The financing of this investment will be provided from European funds, within the Transport Program 2021-2027, according to CJ Galaţi. PHOTO, below! ↓
