Flowers on the stairs, the festival that revives the City of Jos, returns this weekend to Sibiu. The theme of this year’s edition is Authentic, and Sibiu residents and tourists are invited to discover “an oasis of peace” in Piata Aurarilor.

“Do you remember those days when we used to sit together late into the evening ‘on the green grass’?”

We are reactivating the urban oasis in Piața Aurarilor this weekend, from Friday to Sunday, together with florists, artisans, artists, specialists and all those involved in this wonderful project, convey the organizers of the event.

Oasis of tranquility and break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life

Through this festival, Anda and Cătălin Cornăcel, two young entrepreneurs from Sibiu, together with Ioana Nechifor from City Flowers by Ioana, want to show that historic Sibiu is not just Piața Mică and Piața Mare. Historic Sibiu also unfolds on the bohemian streets of the Lower Town. It waits, it broods, it festers, it shakes, it bores, it languishes, and it decays in the absence of attention and intention. However, little by little, it is starting to change and brave little businesses are opening up in this area that too few Siberians and tourists alike know about.

“This unknown Sibiu that is changing its face deserves to be supported and encouraged! And as a first step, through the Flowers on the Stairs festival we want to make it with trumpets, trumpets and flowers. Together with a team of architects, florists, gardeners, craftsmen, artists and local entrepreneurs we will transform the area into a urban garden — an oasis of greenery and relaxation — price for 3 days.

We propose and we will succeed with your support and that of the Flowers on the Stairs team to draw attention to the Goldsmiths’ Square, which is becoming an aesthetically and recreationally stimulating alternative for families, to bring the community together, and to show tourists a different side of Sibiu: a dynamic one , proactive, which promotes its people who contribute to its evolution”, the organizers of the event convey in a press release.

Exhibitions, workshops, guided tours, events for children

The area will be enlivened by impressive flower exhibitions, coordinated by Ioana Nechifor, green plants, live floral demonstration, workshops both for the general public and for professional florists, stands selling flowers and handicrafts, painting exhibitions, tour guided tour, treasure hunt, discussions with specialists, events with and for children and adults, relaxation area, urban picnic, live music and well-being as much as possible.

“Come to Flowers on the Stairs this weekend in Piata Aurarilor, between 10-12 May, daily between 10.00-22.00. Thank you for taking part in the change, change of mentalities, emotions and feelings”, they also say.

The action is co-financed by the Sibiu County Council.
