The prices on the Romanian coast, considered too high, are so because tourists pay the required money, says George Măndilă, president of the Mamaia-Constanța Destination Management Organization. Among other things, the head of local tourism promotion opines that “Mamaia is number one among seaside resorts. It was, it is and it will be so. It is much too strong.” Meanwhile, one out of seven Romanians crossed the border with Bulgaria, during the May 1 and Easter mini-holiday.

“When prices balance at a certain level, know that it is a combination of two factors: the one who sells and the one who buys. After all, a corn for 10 lei would not have this price if someone did not pay for it. (…), said George Măndilă, president of the Mamaia-Constanța Destination Management Organization (OMD Mamaia), in an interview given to Radio Romania Actualității.

He adds that there are a lot of restaurants, terraces and fast foods, so the prices would be balanced for all pockets.

“Finally, I’m talking about Mamaia now, I don’t necessarily know about other resorts, because I haven’t been to the south of Iitoral. For now, Mamaia is number one in terms of seaside resorts. It was, it is and it will be so. It’s much too strong (…) So it’s a much higher level in Mamaia than in the south of the coast, it can’t be compared”, says Măndilă, emphasizing that the resort enjoys the proximity to the city of Constanța, both for services and for the force for work.

One out of seven Romanian tourists went to Bulgaria

According to Euronews, 10,000 Romanians left the country through Giurgiu Customs, in just 48 hours, before the extended holiday of May 1 and Easter. At the same time, the Romanian coast gathered 70,000 tourists in total, according to hoteliers. In our country, the village of Vama Veche, in the south of the coast, had the highest level of occupation (90%).

A week’s holiday on the Romanian coast, in the Mamaia resort, which includes both holidays, costs from 1,500 lei and can exceed 9,000 lei.
