The Theater for Children and Youth “Gong” Sibiu presents on Saturday, May 11, from 18:00, the premiere of the show “Elian’s Map” based on an original text by Angela Ioan and Nicoleta Lefter. The show will also be previewed on Friday, May 10 at 6:00 p.m. and closed circuit for organized groups from Siberian schools.

“It is the first time in Romania that a show about children with dyslexia is staged. With this project we continue the series of educational shows with a strong social component. I strongly believe in a theater of all for better inclusion and better understanding of the world around us. In a world where learning often means rote memorization, this is a special project for us because it produces more collective wisdom. You will discover a fascinating universe, where technology meets humanity, in a vibrant show with didactic nuances,” said Adrian Tibu, manager of the Theater for Children and Youth in Sibiu.

Dyslexia – or reading disorder – is part of the group of “specific learning disorders (SLDs)” which are based on a neuro-biological dysfunction that affects the development of the ability to read. Dyslexia does not depend on intelligence level. Even children with superior intelligence or giftedness can have specific learning disorders, which is the impairment of specific partial capacities, while the general adaptive abilities are unaltered. The dyslexic child has a normal school and social integration. For more details, we recommend the dyslexie.org.ro platform.

In the show “Elian’s Map”, a universe is revealed where words are not just words, but riddles to be deciphered, and our hero, Elian, he is a dyslexic in his purest essence. His story is much more complex as he struggles to understand and adapt to a world that is always on the move, navigating the challenges of his dyslexia in a less understanding school environment. Elian feels trapped in a sea of letters that refuse to speak to him. However, when he opens up to the specialists, he begins to build his own map of the world, a conceptual map that reveals to him the hidden ways and possibilities of his own mind. Through this map, Elian learns to make associations that transform his way of perceiving texts and seeing beyond the letters, opening new horizons that make him understand that strength in self-acceptance and wisdom can come from the most unexpected places, and that our differences are what make us truly unique and special.
