A woman who had a routine endoscopy in a clinic in Dolj died after almost a month of torture. The police opened an investigation into manslaughter. The patient’s family accuses the doctor who performed this intervention of malpractice. It’s about a well-known surgeon being investigated for the deaths of other patients.

The 52-year-old patient from Caracal who died is the fifth victim in the case of the doctor from Craiova, Alin Demetrian.

At the time he operated on the woman in a private clinic, he was under judicial control, being accused of the death of four other patients under similar conditions.

Immediately after the woman was transferred in critical condition from the private clinic to the Emergency Hospital in Craiova, the police asked the magistrates that the doctor should no longer be investigated under judicial control and that a harsher measure be taken against him.

The police said that then the doctor would not have been allowed to enter an operating room, but the magistrates from the Craiova Court considered that the doctor Demetrian can continue to be investigated under judicial control because he would not have violated any prohibition.

The doctor is the former manager of the Emergency Hospital in Craiova and a surgeon recognized throughout Oltenia for five cases of malpractice.

Alin Demetrian is being investigated for the death of five patients, all of whom died after undergoing surgery.
