During this mini-holiday (01-06 May 2024), at the level of Ialomita county, 160 interventions were registered, among which:

  • 135 SMURD qualified first aid missions;
  • 1 unexploded ordnance destruction mission;
  • 1 mission to rescue animals from environments hostile to life;
  • 6 missions to ensure fire prevention and extinguishing measures during religious ceremonies organized in the county, in the context of the Easter Holidays, respectively a football match, in the municipality of Slobozia;
  • 5 road accidents;
  • 12 fires.

Among the most relevant missions managed by them, we mention:

  • During the mentioned period, the rescuers from the Fetești Fire Station intervened at a road accident, occurred in the municipality of Fetești, in which two cars and two people were involved. The SMURD and SAJ crews provided qualified first aid to the two victims at the scene of the event. Later, one victim was transported to the hospital, and the second one refused to be transported to the hospital. Firefighters also ensured fire prevention and extinguishing measures at the scene.
  • Another accident, in which a car was involved, occurred on May 1, in the village of Cegani, Bordușani commune. The crews arrived at the scene of the intervention and found that, as a result of the accident, there were four victims, conscious and cooperative. After providing qualified first aid and monitoring, the victims were transported to Fetești Municipal Hospital for medical investigations. Firefighters also ensured fire prevention and extinguishing measures at the event site.
  • On May 4, the operational crews from the Urziceni Fire Department intervened, with two water-extinguishing trucks and a SMURD ambulance, to extinguish a fire at a home in Coșereni commune. Appliances, furniture, textiles and the roof of the house burned, on an area of ​​approximately 50 square meters. The probable cause of the fire was determined to be open fire in closed spaces.
  • Also on May 4, three intervention crews from the Urziceni Fire Department intervened in a road accident, occurred in the commune of Dridu, in which two cars were involved. As a result of the road accident, there were two victims. After monitoring, only one victim was transported to Urziceni Municipal Hospital. Firefighters also ensured fire prevention and extinguishing measures at the event site.
  • Three rescue crews, with two water and foam extinguishing trucks and a SMURD ambulance, intervened to extinguish a fire at a house in the town of Alexeni. As a result of the fire, textiles, household appliances, and furniture were burnt. The probable cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit.

We remind you of the necessary measures to prevent fires of this kind, which start from electrical short circuits:

    • – carry out periodic checks of the electrical installation, with authorized personnel;
    • – do not use improvised electrical installations;
    • – periodically check the connecting cords of electrical appliances and replace them when they are worn;
    • – do not use loose sockets or switches;
    • – do not overload an outlet because some fires occur due to excessive demand on a power source;
    • – install and use the electrical appliances following the manufacturer’s instructions in the product leaflet;
    • – place and use electrical appliances away from wet environments.
  • During the mentioned period, the Șăndărei Fire Station intervened, with two water and foam extinguishing trucks and a SMURD ambulance, to locate and extinguish a fire at a citizen’s home in Giurgeni commune. Simultaneously with the action of extinguishing the fire, the SMURD crew gave first medical aid to a person who was having a panic attack. After monitoring, she was transported to the hospital. They burned textiles and household appliances, furniture and an annex of the home. The probable cause of the fire was determined to be open fire in closed spaces.
  • One of the special situations recorded was the mission to extinguish a fire that occurred during Saturday evening, at a house in the town of Rovine. Three rescue crews from the Slobozia Fire Department went to the scene of the event, with two water and foam extinguishing vehicles and a SMURD ambulance. The intervention crews that arrived at the scene of the request found that the fire was widespread in a brick construction , on an area of ​​approximately 100 square meters. Simultaneously with the action to extinguish the fire, the SMURD crew provided first medical aid to a person, who had second degree burns on the face. The victim was handed over to a type C crew of the County Ambulance Service and transported to the Slobozia County Hospital. The probable cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit.
  • Another complex mission was the one on Sunday night, May 5, when the rescuers from the Fetești Fire Station intervened to extinguish a house fire in Fetești municipality. At the scene of the intervention, the Ialomi rescuers found a male person, aged approximately 77 years, with first, second and third degree burns on approximately 65% ​​of the body surface. After providing first aid, the victim was transported to the hospital. They burned furniture, textiles and household appliances. The probable cause of the fire was determined to be open fire in closed spaces.
  • The Urziceni fire department intervened in a road accident in Sărățeni commune, in which a car was involved. As a result of the road accident, there were four conscious and cooperative victims, who, after providing first aid, were transported to the hospital.
  • Monday was not without events for the rescuers from Ialomi. About an hour apart, five crews from the Slobozia Fire Department intervened to extinguish two fires, produced in two apartments, in the municipality of Slobozia. The first fire occurred around 16:00, and the probable cause of its occurrence was determined to be open fire in closed spaces. The SMURD crew provided qualified first aid to a person who was having a panic attack, after which it was not necessary to transport him to the hospital. They burned an electrical appliance and an item of furniture. The second fire occurred around 17.00, the probable cause being open fire in closed spaces. He burned an object of furniture. Simultaneously with the action of extinguishing the fire, the medical crew provided qualified first aid to a person intoxicated with carbon monoxide, who was later transported to the hospital.

In addition to the missions carried out in the operative plan, increased attention was paid to the prevention of events that could be generated by non-compliance with fire protection measures.

Prevention inspectors carried out control actions at 19 places of worship and 2 events with a large audience.

Irregularities identified in the field were sanctioned with 21 warnings.

In the future, the military firefighters remain mobilized, 24 hours a day, for the operative management of emergency situations and the provision of specialized medical first aid to persons in difficulty.
