The balance of the actions carried out to maintain and ensure a climate of order and public safety at the level of Harghita county, during the mini-holidays of May 1 and Orthodox Easter

Harghita County Police Inspectorate

The police officers from the Harghita County Police Inspectorate were on duty during the mini-holiday from May 1-6, 2024

On the occasion of the mini-holiday in which the citizens benefited from days off, the police officers from the Harghita County Police Inspectorate were on duty and responded promptly to the requests from the citizens so that this period would not be affected by negative events.

During the first days of May, i.e. between May 1-6, 2024, the police intervened in over 160 events, of which more than 140 were reported by citizens through the single emergency number 112, and 16 reports had other way of information, 97 of them being confirmed.

During this period, the police detected more than 70 crimes for violations of various legislative provisions, applied approximately 420 contraventional sanctions, in the total amount of 193,785 lei, detained 43 driving licenses, of which 7 were detained for exceeding the limit legal speed limits, 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol, and 27 were detained for other traffic violations.

Also, in 22 cases, the measure of withdrawing the registration certificates of motor vehicles was taken.

During the activities carried out, the police officers identified more than 680 people, checked 348 vehicles and tested more than 220 people with the devices provided.

Also during this period, 2 people were detained by the police.

The police officers of the Harghita County Police Inspectorate will continue to be on duty to ensure an optimal climate of order and safety in the county!

The missions of the military firefighters from Harghita during the Easter and May 1st mini-holiday

During the mini-vacation occasioned by the holy Easter holidays, Harghita military firefighters were on duty every day. Between April 30 and May 7 this year, at the level of the “Oltul” Emergency Situations Inspectorate of Harghita county, 54 requests in emergency situations were registered, 46 of which were intended for the provision of medical assistance. Thus, SMURD paramedics provided qualified first aid to a number of 5 children and 41 adults who requested help by calling the single emergency number 112.

During the Easter mini-vacation, Harghita firefighters intervened to extinguish five fires, save the victims of eight road accidents, they received medical care from the SMURD crews, later being transported to the hospital, as well as to ensure fire prevention measures at 3 of the events road.

During the reference period, the military firefighters acted to extinguish five fires, which occurred in the kitchen of an apartment, in the municipality of Odorheiu Secuiesc, at outbuildings, in the localities of Leliceni and Sânmartin, at a street dumpster, in the municipality of Miercurea Ciuc, as well as an uncontrolled burning of dry vegetation, as a result of which an area of ​​about 0.3 ha was affected, in the town of Misentea. Fortunately, there were no casualties as a result, only material damage, but significant.

The prevention of events that can be generated by non-compliance with fire prevention measures was another priority objective for our institution.

The specialists of the Prevention Inspection carried out preventive control and information missions at tourism units and places of worship in the county, in order to identify and remove the potential causes of fire and other specific irregularities. Fortunately, during the religious services, no negative events were recorded. Since the safety of the beneficiaries is essential, such actions will also take place in the next period, at tourism and leisure facilities, commercial spaces and other categories of objectives.

Also in this time frame, through the RO-ALERT system, 28 warning messages were sent, signaling the presence of dangerous animals (bears) in the localities of Lupeni (6), Avrămești (8), Șimonești (2), Lueta (4) , Cristuru Secuiesc (4), Miercurea Ciuc (2) and Toplița (2).

Harghita rescuers remain mobilized, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the operative management of emergency situations and the provision of specialized medical first aid to persons in difficulty.

Harghita County Gendarmerie Inspectorate

The mini-vacation on Labor Day and the Easter holidays took place under normal conditions, without any special situations being recorded in Harghita county.

During this period, approximately 100 gendarmes were present in the streets performing missions to ensure public order and tranquility, both independently and in cooperation with the other institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Mountain gendarmes from the Băile Tușnad, Harghita Băi, Lacu Roșu, Borsec and Praid stations were present in the area of ​​competence, in the tourist resorts and on the mountain trails to prevent antisocial acts and to support people in need.

During the missions executed during this period, approximately 175 people were registered and 3 sanctions were applied.

Sanctions were applied for acts of begging, for beatings and other violence, and for leaving animals unattended.

The Harghita Gendarmerie thanks all the citizens who chose to participate responsibly in the public events of this period, encouraging them to request our support whenever needed.

Harghita Drug Evaluation and Counseling Prevention Center

During the May 1 mini-holiday and the Easter holidays, the anti-drug specialists carried out specific information, assessment, counseling and specialist assistance activities for drug consumption and addiction, in events with a large audience, which took place at the national level.

Also, the festival participants benefited these days from information and specialized counseling, and the people in the records of the anti-drug prevention, evaluation and counseling centers received specialized support and continuous assistance.

At the same time, at the hotline, 21 people were advised by anti-drug specialists and received information about the services offered by the National Anti-Drug Agency.

We mention that the anti-drug specialists acted in an integrated system, together with the other structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
