Cătănoiu revealed how he kept his position for so long: “After so many years it’s normal to know all the residents by name, and I also know many of the problems they face. Now I have a harder time with these children’s names that are inspired by other countries”.

Emil Cătănoiu was even awarded for being the oldest mayor in Romania. “I recently participated in a meeting of the Association of Municipalities in Romania and received an eight-star award for the eighth mandate and found out there that I am the only mayor in the country with eight mandates plus two more years, from 1990 until 1992, when elections were organized”, said Emil Cătănoiu.

The mayor of the Căpreni commune also remembers what was the first investment made in the locality. It succeeded in introducing the gas distribution network. “In the first phase, there were hardly any funds for investments. The first project was submitted in 1993 and consisted of the introduction of the gas network in the locality, especially since gas is extracted from the territory of our commune, but we did not benefit from it then. In 1994, the work began”, said the Gorjean mayor.
