Update: Intervention is underway in the northern area of the city of Târgu Jiu, where, according to the latest official information, 20,000 people were left without water, after a pipe broke. The damage will most likely not be fixed today as it takes seven hours just to empty the pipe.
The pipeline is 65 years old. In the same place, it also gave way about five years ago. At the moment, all the water is being emptied from the pipe. To top it off, the missing part was ordered a month ago and it arrived today, explains an Aparegio director.

Original story: A breakdown in one of the water pipes left hundreds of fairgoers without water. It happened in the northern part of the city, where the streets were covered by water gushing from the mains.
The representatives of the Aparegio company said that people will not have water at the taps throughout the day because of the repairs that will be made to fix the problem.
“Aparegio Gorj SA – CED Târgu-Jiu, announces the interruption of the supply of drinking water, on 07.05.2024, in the time interval 09.00-20.00 in the town of Târgu-Jiu, the northern area of the city, as a result of the damage to the transport pipe Dn 600 from Ecaterina Teodoroiu street.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to users in the area, who we assure that the emergency personnel on site will do everything possible to fix the damage in the shortest possible time.
When the water supply resumes in normal mode, it is possible that the water at the taps will register higher values of the turbidity parameter. We recommend not to use the water for domestic purposes until it is completely clear”, says a press release from Aparegio Gorj.
