Women’s football has taken an important step in our country, even if the level is still weak, and as such, the Ministry of Education has decided to establish new football classes for girls in five cities in Romania.
As a result of the collaboration for several years with the Romanian Football Federation, the Ministry of Education recently announced, through an official document, that “starting with the 2024-2025 school year, five new football classes for girls will be established in the High Schools with Sports Program in Bistrita, Buzău, Pitești, Târgu Mureș and Timișoara”.
Practically, through this measure, the Ministry of Education considers that an important step has been taken towards the development of the new generation of sportswomen who opt for football as their main sport.
At the same time, “through the establishment of the five classes, which will become centers of excellence, the common commitment acquires a new dimension, that of the dual career, the enrolled students having the opportunity to develop their technical skills in football, in parallel with the educational course”. So, in the coming years, Bistrița, Buzău, Pitesti, Târgu Mureș and Timișoara will become nurseries for Romanian women’s football.
