Two English instructors had a shock when they faced the reality on the roads in Romania. For two weeks, they held courses for the instructors from Titi Aur’s defensive driving school, and one day they took a taxi from Otopeni, where they were staying, to Bucharest. “They came the next day, Monday morning, with straight hair on their heads even though they had zero haircuts and they almost caused a scandal. This is not possible, we felt in danger, the taxi driver was driving with the window open, smoking in the car, driving through Otopeni at 80-90 per hour, we felt in real danger. Who trains your taxi drivers? Of course we smiled and said: No one.

Well how?! In England, a taxi driver does 3 years of school if he moves from one city to another, he does 6 months of training,” said the former rally driver in the show “In front of you” on Digi24.

Another shock for the two instructors was to see how tanker drivers drive in Romania.

“I was doing the part of driving commentary, when you are driving and you, as the instructor, have to explain to the driver how to do it. And I was going through the towns around Bucharest, around Buftea, around Mogoșoaia, where I was. I was walking normally, according to regulations, and the truck came behind, which was also transporting oil, and it honked its horn, pushed you. And the instructor wondered: – How is such a thing possible, who certifies those? – No one! – Well, how does he drive the fuel truck without having 6 months of training, how come he doesn’t follow the rules with the truck and no one “shoots” him? Not literally shot… That’s how it is here, it goes with a tanker through the village at 90 per hour and no one is interested in such a thing. For them it was a disaster, we are in a jungle here. And we are in a jungle where we are used to it, but when you go outside, you see that it can be different.

And the question comes again: OK, OK and the Romanian, how does he respect the rules outside? Everyone respects, and if you don’t, you’re the black sheep. It’s not possible for everyone to go with 50-60 and you to go with 80-90, because you’re the only one and it shows. When the camera sees you, fines come,” said Titi Aur.

The show “In front of you” from Digi24, moderated by Claudiu Pândaru and Florin Negruțiu, can be watched on Saturdays and Sundays, from 2:00 p.m.
