Between May 7 and 17, 2024, all 63 public alarm sirens in Constanța are checked, the municipality announces.

Civil Protection Service inspectors from Constanța City Hall, together with specialists from the provider company, ensure that the sirens in the city work in the best conditions.

The activity will consist of emitting short acoustic signals and citizens are asked to remain calm as it is only a check of the means of alarm.

The population’s alarm signals are:

AIR PRE-ALARM – 3 sounds (impulses) of 32 seconds each, with a 12-second break between them, to inform the population of the possibility of an air attack;

AIR ALARM – 15 sounds (impulses) of 4 seconds each with a 4-second pause between them, signifying the imminence of an air attack;

DISASTER ALARM – 5 sounds (pulses) of 16 seconds each, with a 10-second break between them; meaning: the imminence of disasters;

CESSATION OF ALARM – a continuous sound, of the same intensity, lasting 2 minutes; the danger has ended, activities can be resumed

Keeping the notification-alarm system operational is one of the responsibilities of the local public administration. By means of these means of alarm, acoustic signals with different meanings can be transmitted or voice messages aimed at certain measures for the community can be transmitted, according to the City Hall’s press release.
