A building in the center of Cluj, a shelter for homeless people: “They forced their way in/ They disturb the peace and defecate in the yard of the building”

In Cluj-Napoca, the number of people ending up on the streets is increasing.

Exorbitant rent prices, and unforeseen life events make more and more people homeless.

Although homeless people can go to the City Hall shelter, some find refuge under people’s balconies, in the bushes or in houses where no one lives.

This is also the case of a building in the center of Cluj where homeless people found their refuge. Those who live in the area say they have forced entry, are noisy and live in unsanitary conditions.

“Hello, I want to report the fact that on Croitorilor Street in Cluj Napoca, a currently abandoned building, homeless people forced their way in (the gate from the street) and broke the glass in the inner courtyard settling in this building.

I mention that these people disturb the public peace, and in the absence of any hygiene conditions, they defecate in the yard of the building.”explained a Cluj resident.

It appears that this has happened in the past, with the entrances being blocked by those who own the building, but this does not seem to have stopped those who have taken up residence in the building.

“I noticed this problem in the past years as well, later the owner blocked all the access ways in the yard and the premises of the building.”he added.

Homeless people can go to the Night Shelter of Cluj-Napoca City Hall, located on Oașului street, no. 298, where they can receive a hot meal and overnight accommodation.
