National premiere: ultra-modern mountain ambulance, at Salvamont Gorj

--

A national first project implemented by the Gorj County Council, at the county’s Public Rescue Service. The most efficient mountain ambulance in Romania is now operational in Gorj.

The President of the Gorj County Council, Cosmin-Mihai Popescu, assures that he will support any project beneficial to the development of the county, and saving lives is an area for which special attention is paid.
“In the context of our constant concerns for the improvement of medical emergency services in Gorj County, we have paid and will pay special attention to their modernization and efficiency in the future. Our efforts extend beyond the urban amenities, reaching the most inaccessible areas of the county, from the mountain tops to the depths of the caves and waters. In these places, Gorje mountain rescuers have repeatedly demonstrated that they form an elite unit, ready to respond promptly and efficiently in any emergency situation. In this context, as part of an innovative initiative, the Gorj County Council has equipped the Salvamont Service with the most efficient terrain ambulance in Romania, intended for interventions in mountainous areas and other hard-to-reach places. This is a national first and was designed in collaboration with mountain rescuers from Gorj. The vehicle, which has been assessed and validated by the Technical Commission of the International Mountain Rescue Committee, CISA IKAR, is equipped to transport up to five rescuers and one casualty, including full medical equipment and rescue systems adapted to different types of terrain. Moreover, it has advanced technology for communications and data analysis, including the use of drones for reconnaissance. This investment reflects the commitment of the team I lead to ensure efficient and high-quality rescue services in Gorj, a county with a significant area of difficult-to-access mountainous terrain. This initiative serves as a model of good practices, providing a valuable example for other regions in Romania or even for other countries interested in improving responses in emergency situations”, said the president of the Gorj County Council, Cosmin Mihai Popescu.

He met all the suffragettes of the specialists

The head of the Gorj Salvamont Service, Sabin Cornoiu, who is also the president of Salvamont Romania, says that the new model of mountain ambulance, made at the request of Salvamont Gorj, was presented at the World Mountain Rescue Congress, where it met all the specialists’ votes.

“We can proudly say that it is a national first. This emergency vehicle, complex and equipped at the highest level, is a big step forward for the entire emergency service of Gorj County. The Salvamont Gorj County Service is part of this Emergency chain, which starts from the Emergency Reception Unit, up to the top of the mountain. It is a state-of-the-art ambulance equipped with ground rescue equipment, air rescue, night search equipment, drones, as well as other medical equipment to maintain vital functions. We are talking about defibrillator, vital function monitor, secretion aspirator, medical kit, but also other specific intervention equipment. It is a compact machine, the prototype of which was presented at the World Mountain Rescue Congress. It met all the experts’ opinions, and this led us to put it into practice and purchase such a machine. The Gorj County Council supported this investment. Here we are the county that can be proud that the first mountain rescue ambulance in the country was brought to Gorj in 1999, and now we are becoming an example through this new machine, which is of high technology and which marks a big step forward in mountain rescue”. said Sabin Cornoiu, head of the Gorj Rescue Service.
