The share of underemployed people in the total active population was 1.2% in 2023, 0.1 percentage points lower than in the previous year, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

The additional potential workforce included 202.4 thousand people, down 0.4% compared to the previous year.

In 2023, the number of unemployed BIM (International Labor Office) was 455.6 thousand people.

Among the inactive population aged 15-74 (6235.4 thousand people), 202.4 thousand people were part of the additional potential labor force (down by 0.7 thousand compared to the previous year).

Of these, 195.3 thousand people were available to start work, but were not looking for a job.

In 2023, the percentage ratio between this category of people and the active population was 2.4%.

7.1 thousand people were looking for a job, but were not available to start work.

It should be noted that in 2023, 99 thousand people employed part-time wanted and were available to work more hours than at present, being considered underemployed. This category of people represented 1.2% of the active population, 1.3% of the employed population and 35.6% of the total number of people working part-time. Compared to the previous year, the number of underemployed persons decreased by 11.0 thousand.
