Cristian Popescu Piedone, candidate from the PUSL for the position of general mayor of the Capital, launched his political program on Friday in the form of a “contract with the citizens of Bucharest”. Piedone stated that he is the man “who speaks in the language of the many, deceived, the man who still eats parsley and garlic”.

In front of supporters and PUSL members, Piedone presented 12 points of his program, which refer, among other things, to attracting funds for local administration, solving traffic problems, heating, transforming Bucharest into a “smart city”.

“Dear citizens of Bucharest, a lot of people talked about programs, about sterile, unimplemented programs. We look at the last four years: 23 points – the current general primary, none achieved. It is very simple to present a program only with the idea of winning and deceiving the expectations of the population, the people of Bucharest. I don’t have a schedule, today I will present you my contract with Bucharest. (…) I owe it to, at my age, to hand over the baton, to the younger generation: those who consulted me on European funds, those who consulted me on heating, those who consulted me on smart city are young people who are already concerned about their future, seeing that things are not happening”, said Piedone, according to Agerpres.

He presented himself as “a splendour”, who still eats parsley and garlic, unlike the current mayor Nicuşor Dan, who “put mathematics before garlic”.

“I will return at the end with splendor, as you have known me, the everyday man, the man who today embarrasses me over his tie, the man who speaks in the language of the many, deceived, the man who still eats Parisian, yes, still eats garlic. And before I start, but I’d better keep quiet now, to give the splendor at the end, to say what this garlic means and what benefits it can bring to citizens and not to other individuals, who put math before garlic”, added Piedone.

Referring to one of the points of his program regarding the digitization of local administration, he again criticized Nicuşor Dan, saying that Bucharest has not yet reached its potential to be a smart city, although “we have a mathematician as mayor” .

“About the illiteracy of the local administration: it’s easy to be a parrot or to recite or to be given some papers to read there and not do even what they said and committed to in four years. (…) What can we do immediately after June 9, what do we put first: smart, because we relate to the future, we need youth. Some of our elderly people can’t, even if they have a smartphone, they can’t go and pay for a parking lot online, and that’s normal. We have to respect that part as well. It is very important to have a smart city. We cannot implement the future in any field without technology. Currently, all cities are in a development competition, unfortunately Bucharest has not yet reached its potential to be an intelligent city, although we have a mathematician. It seems that his math is the steps he takes from home, on his smart phone, and back to the town hall, that I haven’t seen him in the territory for four years”, declared Piedone, who stated that he, even if he was “born on lamps”, he adapted to technology.
