County councilor Florin Ciora, elected in the fall of 2020 on the PNL list, has changed sides, being the second elected from this party to leave in favor of PSD. Four months after his colleague Dorin Boca did the same, Ciora states that he is dissatisfied with internal party decisions, but – unlike his colleague – he did not resign from CJ Bihor, but announced that he will act until the end of his mandate as representative of this party.

“I want to announce that I have submitted my membership to the PSD and until the end of the mandate I will be active in the PSD group”, announced Florin Ciora (photo) in the middle of Friday’s session of the Bihor CJ, a few minutes after he had sat not as usual next to the PNL representatives in the county “parliament”, but next to the PSD representatives, and Bihor asked him why he did this.
“Last week, on April 19, I informed the County Council secretariat that I am no longer a member of PNL, but of PSD,” Ciora told the reporter.
“The organization that I built, the one from Marghita, was practically dissolved in March last year”, he reasoned, referring to the fact that until March 2023 Marghita was the president of the PNL, but then the organization was dissolved, and later, the mayor of the municipality, Marcel Sas Adăscăliții, who in 2020 had run as an independent, was appointed to the leadership, as interim president.
“We ended up with someone who ran as an independent candidate in 2020 running on behalf of the PNL, and the 2020 PNL candidate Claudiu Ciarnău now running as an independent,” said the recent former PNL-ist who joined the PSD.
He remains with the mandate
It should be noted that despite the change of party, Ciora will not lose his mandate, being able to carry it to the end, and this is thanks to a legislative change that no longer sanctions political trasesism by terminating the mandate.
Another county councilor elected four years ago on the PNL list, Dorin Boca, resigned from CJ Bihor and from the party in December of last year, citing at that time that he wants to run as an independent candidate in Lunca commune, where the mayor is also PNL member.
Later, however, Boca joined the PSD and will run for Lunca City Hall as a representative of this party.
