Important decision taken in today’s government meeting!

The government adopted, on Thursday, a decision that establishes the elimination of the obligation of an adult natural person other than a parent or guardian, who accompanies the minor when leaving the country, to present the criminal record certificate. The border police can check the legal status of the adult companions of the minors, through the National System of Computerized Record of the Criminal Record – ROCRIS, and the criminal record can be issued on the spot.

Border guards have access to the most recent information contained in a person’s criminal record certificate.

More precisely, the Executive adopted the Government decision for the modification and completion of the Methodological Norms for the application of Law no. 248/2005 regarding the regime of free movement of Romanian citizens abroad, approved by Government Decision no. 94/2006.

The provisions were already contained in Law no. 329 of 2023, which amends Law 248/2005 regarding the regime of free movement of Romanian citizens abroad, and now it is also removed from the Methodological Norms, the Executive’s press release states.

In addition, the possibility of sending the simple electronic passport, through courier services, to any address on the territory of Romania, with the costs covered by the applicant, is regulated, the shipment in question being carried out on account of the amount paid as consideration for the passport. The system will be operationalized from the date of ensuring the necessary technical conditions, but no later than January 1, 2025.
