On April 18, 2024, in the meeting room of the “Alexandru Ştefulescu” County Museum, the Conference was held regarding the activity carried out by the management of the association in the period: April 2023-April 2024, based on the provisions of Law no. 502/ 2004, regarding pensioners’ associations, of the own Statute and of the internal regulation of operation. As pointed out by Mr. ec. Petre Rădulescu, President of the Association, ,,we want the meeting in whose work we are participating, to provide a good opportunity for a competent analysis of the association’s manifestations, so that efforts are focused on increasing concerns for improving the living conditions of pensioners, for the defense and obtaining the rights provided by the legislation in force, for the consolidation of the association from an organizational and financial point of view”, emphasizing the fact that in this context the conclusions drawn from the general reporting meetings at the level of the association’s branches can be appreciated.
Among the problems analyzed were the efforts to increase pensions, the evolution of the purchasing power of the obtained incomes, the development of social assistance services offered to pensioners, the improvement of their access to medical services and other objectives regarding the improvement of living conditions! It was insisted on the fact that there was a good collaboration with the management of some institutions, such as: the local Council and the Târgu-Jiu City Hall, with the County Pension House, to solve the requests for obtaining spa treatment tickets, with the Civic Dialogue Consultative Committee for The Elderly, being granted financial aid on the occasion of the holy Christian holidays, for the 1st and 8th of March, the activity of the Curpen and Strâmba-Jiu branches being appreciated, for the role in the life of the respective communities and for the respect they enjoy at the local level. Some speakers highlighted the need to attract new members within the association, as well as the establishment of new branches at the county level, by raising concerns so that the actions of the association are remembered in the public space, using the local mass media to a greater extent!
Among the objectives and actions approved by the important Annual Giving Conference on April 18, 2024, we can mention: following the application of the provisions of Law no. 360/2023, regarding the public pension system, the recalculation, establishment and payment of pensions, the organization of meetings with parliamentarians of Gorj, to know what is intended to be done to improve the lives of pensioners, the application of measures to ensure the quality and access of pensioners at the public services, interventions at the National Public Pensions House for the distribution of a greater number of treatment tickets, approaches at the County Health Insurance House, organizing meetings with specialist doctors, initiating actions to help pensioners with modest incomes, increasing the number of socialization actions at pensioners’ clubs, organizing exchanges of experience with the management of branches in the county, mediating some aspects of pensioners’ issues and many other urgent objectives from this period and from the next period! Mr. Prof. Dr. Gheorghe Nichifor, vice-president of the Gorj County Council, present at the conference, noted that there are three major aspects that affect the lives of pensioners: low income, health and loneliness, the last being the one that comes from helplessness! In conclusion, the participants in the Conference appreciated the position of Mr. President Petre Rădulescu, who concluded as follows: “The Conference of our organization, dear delegates, represents a moment of affirmation of its unity, even though there were some attempts at destructuring, but without to succeed in what was desired!
