The West University of Timișoara will award Iuliia Motoc, judge of the International Criminal Court, the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.

The title will be awarded at the proposal of the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timişoara, in a ceremony that will take place on Monday, May 13, from 11 a.m., in the A01 amphitheater of UVT.

Iulia Motoc he is currently a judge of the International Criminal Court, for a ten-year term (2024-2033) and a professor at the University of Bucharest, being also a member of the Institute of International Law. In the past, he was a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (2013 – 2023), a judge at the Constitutional Court of Romania, vice-president of the United Nations Human Rights Committee and UN Special Rapporteur for the Democratic Republic of Congo, member of the Union Agency for Fundamental Rights European. He has taught and researched at NYU, Yale University, the European Institute of Florence, UN University Tokyo, Université Paris-Sorbonne.
