Romania is participating, these days, for the first time, at KITF – Kazakhstan Tourism Fair, together with Croatia, UAE, Maldives, Thailand, Korea, Uzbekistan, Georgia, etc. and an impressive list of hotels and resorts that come to promote themselves in this Fair.

“We came up with a concept for the first time in Romania’s tourism promotion strategy and we are approaching an extremely important market of tourists, which we have not promoted before.
The major objective that we announced publicly, as a strategic intention, as early as 2021, and on which we are working, in a working group – is to introduce a direct flight between Romania and Kazakhstan, a project in which I managed to attract the attention and support of the Romanian and Kazakh authorities.
I initiated the connection and the campaign to attract the airline SCAT AIRLINES to Romania, with which we now held the first official meeting here, with an entire Kazakh team, led by the owner of the airline.
SCAT Airlines is a Kazakh civil airline based in Shymkent International Airport in Shymkent, Kazakhstan and operates flights between major cities in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.
During the discussions, the arguments that I presented to the management of SCAT Airlines (the strategic partnership at governmental and diplomatic level, the considerably increasing volume of business and commercial relations between Kazakh and Romanian companies, the presence in Romania of Rompetrol’s Kazakh employees and management, the opportunity for the development of tourist traffic between the two countries) attracted the attention of the Kazakh partners, who proposed the air connection between CHINA – KAZAKHSTAN – ROMANIA, and if the air agreements allow, this possibility considerably increases the degree of occupancy, but also interest in the introduction of this flight!
At this moment, Constanța and Bucharest airports are being discussed.
On behalf of the Association of Romanian Airports (AAR) and our Federation, which promotes Romanian destinations, the owner and managers of SCAT in Romania have accepted the invitation to Romania – from May 27-29, in Iasi, to the next AAR National Aviation Conference.
Currently, Constanța Port has become a nodal center of major interest in the movement of goods between the Caucasus basin and Western Europe, which has generated a consistent increase in the volume of business trips between Kazakhstan and Romania, and Kazakh officials and businessmen discover with amazement Romania, a country that has never been promoted in Kazakhstan before, but which they want to visit again as tourists.
I believe that it is time to approach a niche market and a real opportunity – to attract Kazakh tourists and visitors to the holiday destinations and cities in Romania. Businessmen are also tourists – but Kazakhs know nothing about Romania and what makes us unique in the world, as a country.
No project and no strategy to attract tourists and promote between two countries is successful and large, however, without direct and easy air connections”
Romania is experiencing incredible success at the Kazakhstan Tourism Fair these days.
We remind you that the destinations CONSTANTA – MAMAIA, EFORIE, but also BORțA, from MARAMUREȘ, are present in the Romania Stand.
Two reputable hotels in the spa area and two tour operators are also present at the meeting with the Kazakh market.
The Federation of Romanian Hospitality Industry Employers (FPIOR), the Employers’ Organization of Spa Tourism OPTBR and RESTO Constanța are also here to support the Romanian destinations they represent and promote, these days, at the Fair.
