A 38-year-old man died, on Easter Sunday, after entering the railway between the Sibiu towns of Rusi and Şeica Mare, although the traffic light installed at the crossing was red. The train driver and passengers were not injured.
According to the Sibiu Police, the particularly serious accident occurred on DN 14, at the railway crossing between Ruși and Șeica Mare.
From the first investigations, while driving a van from Mediaș to Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, did not respect the significance of the red light at the crossing, entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaș.
The vehicle was thrown off the roadway.
Unfortunately, the driver died on impact.
“The 38-year-old man was in cardio-respiratory arrest, unfortunately, despite the efforts made, he did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers, the doctor present at the scene declaring death”, says Raluca Marcu, spokesperson of ISU Sibiu .
The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj County, were not injured.
Traffic is difficult in the area.
