A driver from Alba died in a serious accident on DN 14, between Mediaș and Sibiu. From the first data, he would have tried to cross the railway on a red color. The car was hit by a train.

According to IPJ Sibiu, the particularly serious accident occurred on DN 14, km. 27, at the railway crossing between Ruși and Șeica Mare.

The first investigations carried out showed that a 38-year-old man from Alba county was driving a van from Mediaș towards Sibiu. He was alone in the car.

He would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light installed at the crossing. He entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaș.

The vehicle was thrown off the roadway.

According to ISU Sibiu, three SMURD crews went to the scene, one of them with a doctor and the emergency doctor’s car.

The 38-year-old man was in cardio-respiratory arrest. Unfortunately, despite the efforts made, he did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers. The doctor present at the scene declared the death.

The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj County, were not injured.

Traffic is difficult in the area.
