Accident at a railway crossing. The driver of a van died

The driver of a van died, Sunday morning, after being hit by a train on DN 14, at the railroad crossing. According to the law enforcement officers, the driver would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light.

“Police officers of the Sibiu Road Service are responding to a particularly serious accident on DN 14, kilometer 27, at the railway crossing between Ruşi and Şeica Mare localities. From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that, while driving a van from Mediaş towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light installed at the crossing, entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaş. The vehicle was projected off the roadway.

Unfortunately, the driver died as a result of the impact. The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj county, did not suffer bodily injuries. It is difficult to travel in the area”, said the police.

Three SMURD crews went to the scene of the accident, but the resuscitation maneuvers were unsuccessful and the driver was declared dead.
