CFR Cluj, very well placed in the fight for the Conference League places, and Rapid, left without a goal at the end of the season, meet in one of the most interesting games of the 8th stage of the SuperLiga play-off.

CFR Cluj is in 2nd place, with 37 points, the same as Craiova University and two more than Farul, which has already played in this round, and recorded three wins, a draw and three defeats in play -off, and in the previous stage he prevailed at home against Sepsi, score 2-1.

This was also the only victory of Transylvania in the matches played at home in the play-off, in addition to two defeats, 1-2 with Craiova University and 0-1 with FCSB (in the regular season they had 10 successes, four draws and one failure ), and the team’s top scorer is Philip Otele, with 14 goals in the SuperLiga.

In the match with Rapid, Dan Petrescu will make his debut on the technical bench of CFR Cluj, returned to the country after an unsuccessful experience in South Korea, at Jeonbuk: “I am shocked that they have not won in seven matches. I am sure that they will come to the match with us very motivated. It’s a very difficult match. There is a lot of pressure on us, and Rapid has no pressure and will give everything”.

Rapid occupies the 6th place, with 29 points, eight away from the European positions, and it comes after a draw and six defeats in the play-off, and in the previous stage it lost at home, score 1-2 with the University of Craiova.

Away, the only point in this play-off was taken by Rapid after a draw with FCSB, score 2-2 (the match was played at the National Arena), in addition to two defeats, 1-2 with Universitatea Craiova and 1-3 with Farul (in the regular season, the Giuleşti team had five wins, eight draws and two defeats on foreign grounds), and the team’s best scorer is Albion Rrahmani, with 17 goals.

“CFR Cluj has always been a strong team. Year after year, his goal was to be in Europe and win the championship. We know what pluses and minuses we have, we know these things and about them. Everything depends on what we do”, said Bogdan Lobont, coach of Rapid.

Rapid prevailed against CFR Cluj in both matches of the regular season, 3-1 in the round, at home (Rrahmani 5, 51, Petrila 71 / Deac 10), and 1-0 in the return, away (Djokovic 9) , but the Transylvanians got their revenge in the first game of the play-off, right in Giulesti, score 4-1 (Bîrligea 4, 8, 36, Cr. Manea 45+1 / Rrahmani 81).
