Serious accident with an ambulance
This morning, in Craiova, there was a road accident that resulted in two serious injuries. After this serious accident, people needed medical attention and were hospitalized.
An ambulance that was traveling with its lights and sounds in operation was hit by a car. The emergency vehicle was going to a medical intervention. At an intersection, a driver ignored signals and did not give way, as required by law. His car hit the mission vehicle and caused a serious accident.
As a result of this accident, two people in the vehicle suffered injuries that required the intervention of doctors. The injured received first aid from paramedics, after which they were taken to hospital. They are to be investigated and receive specialist treatment.
Driver caught drunk driving
Police officers from the Calafat Municipality Police detected a driver under the influence of drugs during a routine check. The police stopped a car driven by a 55-year-old man from Ciupercenii Noi commune.
Since the driver smelled strongly of alcohol, he was tested with the breathalyzer. And = the result being 0.47 mg/l of pure alcohol in exhaled air. To avoid another serious accident, he was left without a license.
In the case, a criminal case was drawn up for the offense of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

Fatal accident in Sibiu
Another road event, very serious, occurred at a railway level crossing on DN 14. The driver of a van died on Easter day after being hit by a train. He would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light, as informed by the spokesperson of IPJ Sibiu, Elena Welter.
“Police officers of the Sibiu Road Service are responding to a particularly serious accident on DN 14, kilometer 27, at the railway crossing between Ruşi and Şeica Mare localities. From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that, while driving a van from Mediaş towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light installed at the crossing, entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaş”, explained the IPJ Sibiu representative.
The van was thrown off the road and the driver died. The passengers on the train, however, did not suffer any bodily harm, as did the train driver. Three SMURD crews went to the scene of this accident, but the resuscitation maneuvers were unsuccessful. The driver was declared dead as he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, according to the ISU.
“The vehicle was projected outside the roadway. Unfortunately, the driver died as a result of the impact. The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj county, did not suffer bodily injuries. It is difficult to travel in the area”, stated the IPJ Sibiu representative.
