three Palestinian films reach the Cluj audience

--

A cultural event of international scope will take place for the first time in Cluj-Napoca: the Palestinian Film Festival, which will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Victoria Cinema. Organized by the prestigious Mahmoud Darwish Cultural Center, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Palestine and the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Romania, the festival promises a day full of film screenings that will offer the Cluj audience a window into the complexity and beauty of the Palestinian reality.

The festival will open with the documentary film “Foragers” (2022), made by Jumana Mana, which explores the struggle of Palestinians to support their families in conditions of precarious security. “Bye Bye Tiberias” (2023), another moving documentary by Lina Soualem, presents the stories of four generations of Palestinian women, revealing their struggles and hopes. The evening will culminate with the screening of the film “Alam” (2022), an impressive drama that won multiple international awards, directed by Firas Khoury.

The audience will have the opportunity to talk directly with the directors and screenwriters after each screening. These online Q&A sessions will allow attendees to learn more about the inspiration behind these films and the complex realities of life in Palestine.

This cultural initiative not only brings aspects of Palestinian culture to the attention of the Cluj public, but also serves as an important means of awareness and education regarding the current situation in the region.

Tickets for the festival screenings are available on the website of Cinema Victoria, here: https://www.cinemavictoria.ro/festivalul-filmului-palestinian/
