Iulian Dumitrescu, accused in a criminal corruption case, submitted his candidacy for the position of president of the Prahova County Council

The liberal Iulian Dumitrescu submitted, yesterday, at the Prahova County Electoral Office, the file of supporting signatures and the file of candidacy for the position of president of the Prahova County Council, although he is accused in a criminal file instrumented by the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate, in which he is accused.
The announcement was made by PNL Prahova, through a press release: “The President of PNL Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu, submitted today, April 24, the signatures and the candidacy file for a second mandate at the head of the County Council. The decision was taken following discussions with the mayors and other local elected officials who asked Dumitrescu to ensure continuity at the county administration level in the context of the projects of over three billion euros from European funds that CJ Prahova managed to attract in his mandate,” said the liberals, who no longer invited the press to the candidacy, as happened four years ago, when he ran for the PNL-USR-PLUS Alliance.
“Regarding the criminal case against him, Iulian Dumitrescu maintains that he has the legal and constitutional right to run for office, he collaborates with the criminal investigation institutions, considers himself innocent and expects a solution as soon as possible from the judiciary”, the PNL press release states Prahova.
We remind you that, from February 1, 2024, when the DNA prosecutors searched his home, but also at the headquarters of the Prahova County Council, Iulian Dumitrescu is prohibited from exercising his position as president of the CJ Prahova, being under judicial control imposed by the investigators.
On the other hand, on the same date, Dumitrescu had announced that he was resigning from his positions in the PNL, which was completely untrue. Following an appeal made by the Prahova PSD to the Prahova County Electoral Office, it was revealed that Dumitrescu did not, in fact, resign from the leadership of PNL Prahova, he is still the leader of the Prahova liberals, despite Nicolae Ciucă’s repeated statements about the fact that Iulian Dumitrescu withdrew from all positions held in the party.
