VIDEO: On June 1, we are waiting for you at the Parade of Little Bikers! | Radio Bucharest FM – Radio Music Live Online

From June 1st we stop the cars and get on the bikes! We are also waiting for you at the Parade of Little Bikers, this time, on the Independence Splai in the Sema Park area.

The Little Bikers Parade aims to promote cycling among children. And not anyway, safely, because they will also learn the rules of this activity. Today, at Bucharest FM, the organizers came: Ioana Deneș, from Go4Fun, and cyclist Alex Ciocan.

Alex Ciocan urges us to bring the children to the Little Bikers’ Parade if they like to pedal: “It’s an event dedicated to kids who have a bike, it’s not necessarily dedicated to those who perform. Of course they are also expected, only we will ask them to be more like guides for those who ride a bike less often.”

The two gave us more information about the program of the event: “In the morning there will be many workshops where the children will be able to learn all kinds of useful information, some of which they may already know, but it is important that they know how to drive, how to dress, how to equip themselves.”

We will also have contests for children, by age category, by gender category, under the careful supervision of our team. The maximum age is 14 years, if you have a bulletin we will not accept you.”

“In the first part of the day, we are happy if the whole family comes by bike, not just the little ones, because parents or older siblings help us with the activities and the parade. So we are waiting for everyone by bike. We have enough space for everyone to enjoy a day on the bike.”

The objectives of the event are worthy: “We want to teach the little ones the rules of the road, to know how to secure themselves, to learn to signal, to pay attention to those around them, especially when they walk next to each other.”

“We also want to draw the attention of the authorities that there is potential, there are a lot of children who could go cycling with their families and that we need to help them, give them space, give them what they need to do that.”

Ioana Deneș adds by saying that adults also have a lot to learn, sometimes even from their own children: “I think that even the big ones have to be somehow encouraged in this direction because the little ones end up copying them. Sometimes even parents learn from children. I ended up wearing the helmet because of my daughter. On the bike it is not mandatory, but it is recommended.”

“When my daughter saw me without a helmet, she got my attention and used her as an example, not understanding why I don’t wear one.”

The desire of the guests to make the little ones ride a bike is also noted through the prism of other actions they carry out: “We held classes in the school, at one point we took about 10-15 bicycles to the school yard and they stayed for a week. It was half-time battle, everyone came there to ride their bikes. The sports classes had become a miracle because they were cycling.”

Have drivers become more cautious?

“There are also drivers in Bucharest who wait for you and let you pass, only then overtake you. It is much easier to cycle short and medium distances. When you turn around in the center of Bucharest, it’s even faster.”

Let’s play the video above and then pedal to the event on the Splaiul Independentei!
