Workers shattered by a truck driver who fell asleep at the wheel, in Dolj. A 45-year-old woman died on the spot, a man is in serious condition

Dramatic accident on the side of a road in Dolj this afternoon. One worker died and another is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a truck. As a result of the impact, the machine used for the works was pushed 30 meters.

The works were properly signaled by warning signs, and in the area where these road maintenance works were being carried out, there was also a warning trailer as well as several large light arrows.

According to witnesses, the truck driver told the police that he fell asleep at the wheel. He hit the signaling trailer that was connected to the intervention van. The impact was so strong that the entire assembly more than 30 m, then was projected into the two workers, a 45-year-old woman died on the spot and his colleague is in serious condition.

The police say that the driver of the truck is 68 years old, a Bulgarian citizen, he was tested with the breathalyzer and it turned out that he had not consumed alcohol. The law enforcement officers have opened a criminal case, they are investigating for manslaughter and for manslaughter.
