Marcela Mrejeru was replaced by Mihai Istrate, in the position of Gorj general school inspector. Mihai Istrate is director of the Ţicleni Technological High School, vice-president of PSD Gorj and was sub-prefect of Gorj, until the end of 2023. Marcela Mrejeru would run for the post of county councilor, in the local elections of June 9, according to radioinfinit.ro.

Mrejeru was changed following a check by the Ministry of Education, at the request of the former prefect of Gorj, Iulian Popescu, according to pandurul.ro.

The Control Body of the Minister of Education made checks at the Gorj County School Inspectoratein December 2023 and April 2024, after they arrived at the Ministry of Education several referrals from dismissed school principals and teachers alleging abuse by school principals, according to local media, and complaints of alleged violations of education law.

Marcela Mrejeru holds the history chair at the “Tudor Vladimirescu” National College in Târgu Jiu and was appointed to the position of general school inspector for the first time, in March 2019, when she held the position until January 2020. In the same year she was elected municipal councilor on PSD lists.

Between 2020-2022, Dana Constantinescu, PNL member, was appointed head of ISJ Gorj. She submitted her resignation in July last year, when Marcela Mrejeru was reinstated, by order of the then minister, Sorin Cîmpeanu.

Several teachers from Gorj were enrolled in PSD by Marcela Mrejeru and were presented to the party as “people who have not been part of any political party before and want to be actively involved in achieving the objectives”, on July 6, 2023.
