The biggest jazz competition in Eastern Europe will take place in Cluj

“Jazz in the Park Competition”, the largest jazz competition in Eastern Europe returns to Cluj with young talents. The 7th edition of the international competition will take place between July 5-7, 2024, in the Central Park from Cluj-Napoca. The 13 finalist bands will perform live in front of the public who will enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of a festival.

This year, within the competition, a record number of entries was registered, namely 246 bands from 39 countries. Among the finalist bands, which will end up performing in front of the Romanian public, there are also bands from Austria, Germany, France or Belgium. Entry to the event is free.

Among those who will reach the stage are also artists already known to the public because the organizers of the event have prepared special moments for those who will participate between July 5 and 7, 2024. Thus, the legend of Cuban music, Roberto Fonseca, who presents his new album , Elena Mîndru, 7th SENSE, Răzvan Florescu Quartet will be present to impress the Cluj audience.

The total value of the prizes for the winners exceeds 35,000 euros this year. In addition to the three places that make up the podium of the finalists, there are also prizes for the category of the best Romanian band in the competition, worth 1,000 euros or the prize for the most valuable competition. As for the judging, it will be carried out by a different jury from the one in the pre-selection stage, which is to be announced.

The winning band, in addition to the prize consisting of 5,000 euros, will have the opportunity to perform on the stage of the “Jazz in the Park” festival, which took place between August 30 and September 1, in the “Romulus Vuia” Ethnographic Park.
