Titi Aur, specialist in defensive driving, commented on the images of a scooter rider in an intersection who changed lanes without checking. The expert said how to drive, more precisely, in an intersection.

“Not only scooterists and not only drivers from other countries do not respect traffic rules in Romania. I saw phases where the school bus went straight through the roundabout, even though it had 2 lanes. It’s a problem of understanding the traffic, and I’m strictly referring to the intersections: the normal one and the roundabout.

The rule is that in the lane you enter, in that lane you must exit the intersection. That you turn left, that you turn right, exit the lane you entered. If you change lanes in the roundabout, you must do it as if you were somewhere else, that is, you must signal, make sure and give priority to the one in the lane you want to enter.”, said Titi Aur .

There is also a problem at intersections

Titi Aur also spoke about how intersections are made, most of which are poorly systematized or incorrectly marked.

“Not only foreign scooter riders – who don’t follow rules because they don’t have any – do this, but even Romanian drivers don’t understand and don’t do this. Of course, the intersection must also be built and marked so that you can change lanes. If the road turns into two lanes, but there is only one lane in the direction, the little understanding or the zipper rule is reached.

Normally, a well-systematized and marked intersection means preselection, it shows you in advance which lane to put in for left, right and forward, you enter the lane dedicated to the direction you want to go, and when you reach the intersection, that is roundabout or not, you have to have the appropriate number of lanes, and then you have to comply.

We have some incorrectly marked intersections, with wrong markings, because that’s how it turned out for the person who drew the marking. Intersections are not marked properly, we are not educated enough – cyclists, motorcyclists, drivers – and if we are educated, we are insensible.

When all these factors are working, the probability of civilized driving will be much higher. Not 100%, but it will definitely be better than that”, concluded Titi Aur, specialist in defensive leadership.
