The actor Dorel Vișan was present in Moscow at the Film Festival (April 19-26), where a film from Romania and one from the Republic of Moldova are entered in the main competition. Dorel Vișan recently made waves with a statement showing that Romania needs a dictatorship “intelligent like Mr. Putin’s”.

“We need a new dictatorship, a new intelligent dictatorship, of a government, a president and a prime minister who will order, as Mr. Putin ordered. In Russia, Russian is spoken, it is law in Russia,” Vișan said as a guest of a podcast.

Also, Dorel Vișan entered, live from Russia, the show “Behind the scenes of the parallel state”, from Realitatea Plus. In a wide-ranging statement he praised Russia and the way they were received in Moscow.

“This morning, Father Mega was blessed to hold a service at the Kremlin church, and I want to tell you that I was received here as I did not think, by very important people: Mrs. Zakharova, who received us very attentively , by Nikita Mihalkov, who appreciates Romanian culture very much.

It is absolutely a cultural event, but which falls into a proposal to get closer to people, I consider it so, which for 30 years our commanders did not know how to do. I could not imagine; tonight there was a concert, the Passion after Matthew, an extraordinary concert, written by Metropolitan Hilarion, and now we are at a table after this concert, together with Father Vasile, who speaks Romanian well and whose wife is Ukrainian.

I told him he came here to help Ukraine stop the war. That is our intention.

Tomorrow we have a press conference for the film, there are hundreds of photographers here. Only in Cannes have I encountered something like this before! And on Wednesday, the film is presented in competition. We are in an advantageous and beautiful cultural position and we are received with a lot of friendship and a lot of warmth. I hope we will come away with a win! I spoke to many artists from other countries, who have a good opinion of us and told me that this festival is a human festival, it is a festival that is from the area of the others with many political and other influences and that, at the opening , you know, it was absolutely wonderful.

… We feel very good, we feel human, we feel that we came here with a film that sends a human message, sends a message to correct this world that is going crazy, and I have absolutely no regrets that I came and I don’t have any kind of attitude that I would be somewhere in a foreign country, although in the Moscow mass media it was written that films from less friendly countries also participate in the festival, saying the name of my country, which did not make me greater pleasure.

I hug Cozmin with all my love, we support him with all my love! Know that I knew about his candidacy. I wish Cozmin to enter a good, beneficial area, because he is a wonderful man, he is a man who knows the situation in Romania and it would be good if we could change it for the better”, said Dorel Vișan.

The statements came in the context in which the Minister of Culture Raluca Turcan announced that two films considered by experts as Russian propaganda, “The Provocation” (2023) and “The Time of the First” (2017), will no longer be broadcast in Romania, although there is a agree to this.

Romania bans Russian films

The National Film Archive is terminating the contract for the broadcast in two cinemas of films considered Russian propaganda, the Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan, announced on Wednesday.

According to the minister, the two films were to be screened at Cinema Eforie and Cinema Union.

“It is unacceptable that such cinematographic productions, obviously propagandistic, financed by the Russian state, in the context of the war started by Russia in Ukraine, benefit from broadcasting spaces in public cinemas”, claims Raluca Turcan.
