Considering the fact that road education is a priority area for achieving the strategic objective of reducing the risk of victimization among road traffic participants, the traffic police forces within the Road Service carry out propaganda and road education activities by organizing and carrying out thematic actions for the prevention and combating of road accidents, aimed both at disciplining pedestrians and drivers of bicycles or scooters, as well as educating drivers to adopt preventive behavior in traffic.

Thus, in order to achieve the previously mentioned objective and, first of all, to prevent the victimization of children through traffic accidents, it is necessary for them to be aware of the risks they expose themselves to by not complying with road rules, an aspect that can be achieved by organizing and carrying out activities preventive-educational, aimed at presenting road rules and recommendations for safe travel on public roads.

In this sense, during the day of April 23, 2024, teams from the Road Service carried out preventive-educational activities to prevent the victimization of children through traffic accidents at the “Spiru Haret” National College in Târgu Jiu, targeting primary school students.

As part of the program to prevent the victimization of preschoolers/students through traffic accidents, the action called “Be a disciplined pedestrian” was initiated. Don’t pass beyond!”, on which the schoolchildren were taught the road rules regarding traveling on public roads, crossing on properly marked and signposted pedestrian crossings, as well as the place they must occupy in vehicles when traveling it is done using these means.

Also, images of electric traffic lights – pedestrian and for vehicles and pedestrian crossings – were presented. An interactive contest like “So yes, so no!” was initiated. in which the preschoolers were presented with hypothetical situations, they had to identify the correct one and justify the choice made.

We mention the fact that such activities will also take place in the following period, in order to make minors aware of the situations they are exposed to in case of non-compliance with road rules and inattention in traffic.
