Experience in tram 101, from North to South Station. It took as long as a train ride from Ploiesti to Bucharest [FOTO- VIDEO]

Those who thought that only car traffic was turned upside down due to the diversion of traffic from Bulevardul Independentiei in Ploiesti are sorely mistaken. A trip on tram 101, from North to South Station, ended up taking as long as taking the train from Ploiesti to Bucharest.

Horns, tensed nerves, bar-to-bar traffic… This is the atmosphere in the traffic in Ploiesti as a result of the traffic diversion from Bulevardul Independentei in Ploiesti.

The implemented traffic solution, namely the diversion of traffic on Democrației street, but also on the side streets of Bulevard Independţei, did nothing but cause traffic jams on these sections of road.

The problem is that not only the car traffic was turned upside down, but also the circulation of the means of public transport that had the route North – South Station.

Prisoners in the tram, for an hour, for a journey from the North to the South Station

In the absence of other alternative routes for cars on the North – South Station section, the circulation of public transport has become a real ordeal. And the “adventure” is not only at rush hour.

After we received several notifications to the editorial office, from the readers of Observatorulph.ro, regarding the long time spent in traffic by those who choose to travel by public transport, we wanted to see how things are on the ground.

The center of Ploiești, almost paralyzed

From the start, it should be stated that the trams run quite regularly in Ploiești and ensure the transport of a large number of passengers.

The only problem is that, on certain sections, the traffic of trams intersects with that of cars, and then the real traffic problem begins.

We chose to travel by tram 101, on the grounds that normally tram lines are strictly for such means of transport.

Captives on public transport

Tram 101 left from the North – the end of the line at the Ploiești Emergency County Hospital station – around 1:17 p.m., and the journey to Halele Centrale was relatively according to the charts, with the mention that until the center, past the tram stations , the vehicle stopped at several traffic lights. It should be noted that there is no heavy traffic on this section.

At 1:30 p.m., the tram passed the Halele Centrale station and got stuck in the crowd in the area once known as Aroma.

The distance between the station from Halele Centrale to the next station (in the Ploiesti Court area) was covered in 22 minutes.

The biggest problem appeared in the area near the Prahova Hotel, where endless queues of cars formed on both lanes.

It therefore took 22 minutes to travel the distance from Halele Centrale station to the next tram stop, much to the dismay of passengers who felt trapped in the transport.

In total, the tram ride from the North to the South Station lasted more than 50 minutes, while a train journey from Ploiești to Bucharest takes the same time.

Complaints are flowing

Many drivers from TCE Ploiești are also dissatisfied with the traffic congestion, who complain that they have to give up even their meal breaks in order to fit, as far as possible, into the established schedules.

Moreover, on the TCE Ploiești website, it is mentioned that “WARNING! Depending on the development of general road traffic on the arteries of the municipality of Ploiești, there may be deviations from the established departure times”.
