Gabriela Firea said on Thursday, on B1TV, that she would have liked to have remained the definitive PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall after the first announcement, becausehis entry into the campaign almost a month before the elections created confusion among the citizens of Bucharest. She also says that, although he is a last-minute candidate, which can be a disadvantage, he could not refuse the PSD proposal.

“I too would have liked to have been a permanent and definitive candidate after the first announcement and not to have this period when I am convinced that the citizens of Bucharest suffered certain confusions, who it is good to vote for, what those candidates offer, who are the who support them, what majority can be achieved in the General Council, what support will those candidates have from the Government”, explained Gabriela Firea, according to News.ro.

She also said that she believes that in the country, in general, but especially in the Capital, “people are very well informed, they have a certain standard of living, they have expectations, big, very big promises have been made, the political and administrative standard it rose a lot in the previous election campaign, and then it is normal by comparison for the people of Bucharest to see that what was promised three and a half years ago has not been achieved and to have high expectations”.

She also stated that she had no way to refuse the PSD’s proposal to run for the Capital City Hall elections, following the coalition meeting in which other candidacy options were tested.

“I am now a last-minute candidate and this is apparently a disadvantage. I had no way of saying no because it was that very long meeting, 16 hours, from morning until late at night. Several variants of candidacy were tested, of some colleagues from PSD and PNL, parliamentarians from Bucharest, people from politics who were in the foreground at a given moment. Late at night it was concluded that the two parties must go separately in order to try at the last hour to at least get their own votes and to eliminate this confusion which was unfortunately created by the fact that an independent candidate could accumulate votes and from the PSD side, and from the PNL side”, concluded the PSD Bucharest leader.
