Flagrant at the Giurgiu County Hospital: A gynecologist was caught while accepting a bribe for a caesarean section

A gynecologist from the Giurgiu County Hospital was caught red-handed when he received a bribe to perform a caesarean section. The doctor asked for 900 lei, of which 700 for him and 200 for other people.

“The judicial police officers of the General Anticorruption Directorate – Giurgiu County Anticorruption Service, under the coordination and at the delegation of the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Giurgiu Court, on Tuesday, 23.04.2024, caught a gynecologist in the act of taking a bribe from the Giurgiu County Hospital,” the General Anti-Corruption Directorate said in a press release on Wednesday.

The cited source stated that the doctor claimed and received the sum of 900 lei from the patient’s relative, of which 700 lei for him and 200 lei for other people from the Gynecology Department, to perform a caesarean section surgery.

“After the hearing, the case prosecutor ordered the detention of the doctor for 24 hours, the investigations being continued under the aspect of committing the crime of bribery”, the quoted source said.
