The Holy Light arrived in Sibiu and was offered, at the International Airport, to the Metropolitan of Transylvania IPS Laurentiu, who then distributed the Holy Light to the delegations from the dioceses of the Transylvanian Metropolis, the archpopes, priests and believers present, the Metropolis of Transylvania conveyed.
From the airport, the Holy Light was brought to the Metropolitan Cathedral, where it will be distributed to the faithful at midnight. IPS Laurenţiu officiated a thanksgiving service in the Metropolitan Cathedral, then distributed the Holy Light to the priests of Sibiu and its surroundings to offer it to the faithful in the parishes.
The Holy Light from Jerusalem arrived in Romania at around 6:30 p.m., brought by a special flight to Otopeni Airport. From there, it was given to all dioceses in Romania and Moldova, basilica.ro reports
The Holy Light descended to the Tomb of the Lord in Jerusalem at 14:13 and was taken for the Romanians by the representative of the Romanian Patriarchate at the Holy Places, Archimandrite Teofil Anăstăsoaie, who went directly to the “Ben Gurion” Airport in Tel Aviv to bring it to Bucharest.
The tradition of bringing the Holy Light from Jerusalem dates back 15 years in Romania and was initiated by the PF. Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
