As every year, the month of April stands under the sign of the preparation of students from our county in the field of emergency situations, for which the Service of Preparation for Intervention and Resilience of Communities within the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Barbu Catargiu” of Ialomiţa County organizes school competitions with a technical-applicative character “Friends of the firemen” and “With my life I defend life”.
The county phase of the contests will start tomorrow, so starting at 08 o’clock:00 crews of students from numerous schools in the county will demonstrate their skills as small firemen, next Thursday, 25.04.2024, starting at the same time, the competition with the theme of civil protection “With my life I defend life.”
The host of the two contests this year will be the “Al.I. Cuza” Technological High School in Slobozia, where the students will show off their theoretical knowledge, and then they will also demonstrate their practical skills at the “1 Mai” Municipal Stadium.
As part of the “Friends of the Firefighters” competition, the students will have to complete two practical tests – the “Obstacle Skill Track” and the “400 m Obstacle Relay” – during which they will simulate all the stages of extinguishing a fire: from transport the hose reel over obstacles, when handing it over, crossing different traps as well as recognizing different work tools specific to firefighters and executing some rope knots used by firefighters.
As for the competition with the theme of civil protection “With my life I defend my life”, it also involves the passing of a theoretical test and 2 practical tests: the assisted transport of an injured person sitting on a stretcher over a distance of 50 m and moving with a face mask in -a district with contaminated obstacles.
The competitions have an educational, technical-applicative and sports character and are organized by the County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Barbu Catargiu” of Ialomița County, in collaboration with the Ialomita County Council and the Ialomita County School Inspectorate, with the aim of developing the ability to understand and appreciate the dangers generated by emergency situations for life and the environment, the promotion of appropriate attitudes and behaviors among students, as well as the formation and development of moral traits- volitional, such as: initiative, team spirit, courage, discipline and fair play.
