The Ministries of Economy, Defense and Research are collaborating in order to manufacture a Romanian drone in the defense industry, announced the Minister of Economy, Ștefan-Radu Oprea, who added that Romanian companies with high-performance products in this regard have been identified.
“About the Romanian drone – Yes, it’s a project I believe in. It is a project in which we have identified many Romanian companies that already have very high-performing products, and together with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Research, Innovation, we will succeed in bringing this Romanian drone project much closer”, said the Minister of Economy, who has subordinates state companies in the defense industry.
Regarding this, Minister Oprea showed that for 5 companies in the field, memoranda were prepared for additional employment, the target being that some factories work in 4 shifts, respectively 24 hours for 7 days a week.
The minister also said that at the moment there are discussions with many partners in order to be able to produce in Romania the equipment that the Ministry of National Defense, the Romanian army, and the other ministries of force need, and in the month of May he hopes to be able to announce with the international partners established projects and their progress.
Ștefan-Radu Oprea showed that out of the 120 licensed companies in the defense industry, 118 have private capital and produce for defense institutions in Romania, but also export, our country being present in the supply chains of ammunition of all calibers.
