Iulian Dumitrescu, President of the Prahova County Council, Remains Under Judicial Control

Investigated by anti-corruption prosecutors for bribery and false declarations, Iulian Dumitrescu is prohibited from exercising his position as president of CJ Prahova.

In the same file, Iulian Dumitrescu’s sister is being investigated for complicity in bribery and forgery in documents under private signature, and his brother-in-law, for complicity in bribery and forgery in statements.

Investigated for bribery and false statements

The president of the Prahova County Council, Iulian Dumitrescu, is being prosecuted by the DNA, under judicial control, for bribery and false statements.

Dumitrescu was accused by the prosecutors of having received a bribe of over 16 million lei from a businessman who had a contract with CJ Prahova. In the evening, Iulian Dumitrescu announced his resignation from the position of first vice-president of the PNL and from the leadership of PNL Prahova through a message on Facebook.

By the ordinance issued by the DNA prosecutors, Dumitrescu was forbidden for 60 days to hold the position of head of CJ Prahova.

Prosecutors instituted precautionary measures on the bank accounts of Iulian Dumitrescu, his sister, Angelica Lambrea, and her husband, Daniel Lambrea, as well as on a property belonging to Iulian Dumitrescu and on 19 properties belonging to the other two defendants considered accomplices of the politician .

Although he is being investigated by the DNA for acts of corruption, Iulian Dumitrescu will run for a new mandate as head of the CJ, the Prahova branch of the National Liberal Party (PNL) announced on Wednesday, March 20.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu stated on Thursday, March 21, that neither he nor the social democrats support the candidacy of the liberal Iulian Dumitrescu for the head of the Prahova County Council (CJ).
